My Process - Airies Bagalawis Art

I work in batches because repetition helps me build momentum and clarity. When I repeat the same process across multiple pieces, I become faster and more intuitive, and the work gains consistency. The first few paintings usually take more time, but as I continue, the visual language becomes more fluid and confident. I also work this way because my ideas often reveal themselves during the process; sometimes the full narrative only becomes clear later, and working in a batch allows me to incorporate that discovery across the entire series rather than breaking its cohesion. If too much time passes between works, changes in mood, experience, or tools can fracture the visual and conceptual unity. By completing a body of work within a defined period, I preserve continuity in symbols, structure, and intention, allowing the series to function as one complete statement rather than separate, disconnected works made at different points in time.
